Originally developed to locate hydrants for fire departments, this system utilized both satellite signals & dead reckoning improving overall system accuracy due to civilian GPS limitations. 1989: Gregg Howe of Design Works USA applied Hunter Systems $40,000 navigational computer to the Magna Torrero Concept Car.1987: Toyota introduced the World's first CD-ROM-based navigation system on the Toyota Crown.Digital map information was stored on standard cassette tapes.
